Reupholster or Repurchase? 3 Key Questions to Guide Your Decision…
You read every classic children's book to your children in that shredded chair. Or your parents spent a fortune on the best-quality sofa that never appealed to you in floral print. It may be worth custom reupholstery!
"Do You Truly Love this Piece?"
Furniture that has sentimental value or high-quality construction is worth keeping. We have skilled upholsterers who can save and improve these pieces. They can rebuild cushions and enhance suspension where needed. One of our favorite "tricks" is to create one long bench cushion to eliminate the gaps on a sofa.
"Is the Frame Built to Last?"
There are some great indicators that the construction of your piece is of lifetime quality. Is it kiln-dried hardwood with 8-way hand-tied suspension? The joinery may be double-doweled or mortise and tenon, with corner blocks screwed to the frames for solid longevity.
"Can Comfort be Restored?"
If the sofa or chair was never comfortable, reupholstering isn't going to fix it. However, if it used to be one of the coziest seats in the house, suspension and cushions can be repaired to revive that feeling.
We can advise you on whether it is worth the investment to repair and recover your sentimental upholstery. And we can help find a replacement with something new if you choose to replace.
